With the performers back turned and standing completely away from the table top the routine begins: A normal 52 card deck (really) is on top of your table, a spectator freely (no doubles) selects a card and places it under the close up mat.  They put the rest of the card deck in their pocket and remember the card hidden under the mat, all completely fair.

All this takes place with the performers back turned and away from the table, it would be impossible to know the card you selected or written note.

Take out a small memo pad (ungimmicked) from the drawer, and write down your prediction on the top page, and turn it over. Spectator removes the hidden card under the mat.  Explain you'll turn the memo-pad over and they show the face of the card at the same time.
